How do I know what drink bottle to choose?Updated 21 days ago

We stock a wide range of drink bottles in all shapes, sizes and styles. We find the type of drink bottle you choose depends on the person's age and preferences. We'll break down some options below which will hopefully help with the decision making!

You can shop our entire range here.

Clear plastic drink bottles

Some people prefer a clear drink bottle so they can easily monitor how much water has been consumed. These bottles are often lighter in weight than their insulated counterparts too. We stock a range of clear bottles made with durable Tritan that come with a variety of different lids to suit your drinking style.

Insulated drink bottles

If you live in an area that has particularly hot summers, or you prefer your water icy-cold an insulated drink bottle is a great way to go. Made from stainless steel and with a double wall insulation, you can fill the bottle with ice and water to start the day, then refill it when just the ice cubes remain, chilling the water for the rest of the day.

Sip-style vs tip-to-drink style

A drink bottle with a sipper lid and internal straw is a great option for easy rehydrating on the go as you can keep the bottle upright while you drink. This is particularly handy if you are driving. For kids, the sipper style drink bottles are less likely to case a mess or spill while drinking as they have a slower flow (just remember to close the spout once you finish drinking!). Our sipper lid style drink bottles range from those with a hard sipper lid to a soft silicone straw. If you prefer to tip your drink bottle up to drink, or have a faster flow of water a bottle with a screw lid or sports lid is the way to go.

Plastic-free options

An increasing number of brands are exploring options away from plastic. For smaller children, the Oasis Insulated Kids Drink Bottle comes in two sizes, and although it has a plastic lid, both the internal straw and sipper are silicone, so no plastic touches the water. MontiiCo and bbox have options for a stainless steel internal straw for their drink bottle range.

Drink bottle size

For smaller children, we suggest a drink bottle that is under 500mls as it is lighter and easier to carry and handle making it more accessible to regular drink from. If you are concerned this won't be a big enough capacity, encourage them to refill their drink bottle at school throughout the day. For older children, a drink bottle under 1l is manageable. Take into consideration that some of the larger drink bottles are too wide to fit in the drink bottle holders on their bikes or school bags. For weekend use where you are out and about all day at sports or outings, or for those children that love the larger size drink bottles we have some great 1l+ options.

Replacement parts

We stock replacement lids and straw tops for many of our drink bottle brands. You can find our spare parts for drink bottles here.

Accessories

The MontiiCo and Oasis drink bottles have the option of a removable silicone bumper that can be purchased separately. This optional extra helps protect the base of your drink bottle from bumps and scratches. Stock up on a few so you can change them up to suit your colour scheme!

Help, my kid always chews their drink bottle lid!

MontiiCo's sipper lid is chew-proof, so if your little one loves to bite their lid this might be a good option for you to try. Alternatively you could swap out the sipper or straw lid for a more open style like a sports or screw top lid.

Help, my kid bottle flips or throws their drink bottle!

This is a tricky one, as no drink bottle is 100% indestructible. Even with a silicone bumper in place, throwing or flipping drink bottles can cause internal damage to the insulation or dents in the outer wall. It can cause plastic drink bottles to crack. This kind of damage is not covered under the manufacturers warranty.

Do you have any drink bottles that are leakproof when the lid is left open?

The bbox Tritan has a bite-valve in the straw so if the lid is left open it does help prevent accidental spills.
